Palliative Care  
Our Palliative Program provides specialized medical care for people with serious illness which is life-limiting, life-threatening or chronic.  Our goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.  It prevents or treats symptoms and side effects of disease and treatment.
Our Services
Alterna-Care utilizes skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical social worker, nutritional guidance and medication management to address physical symptoms such as:

  • Pain and symptom management
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of appetite

Patients and their families face stressors that can lead to spiritual, emotional, social &coping needs.  Stress can lead to fear, anxiety, hopelessness or depression.  Treatments may include:

  • Counseling services
  • Support groups
  • Family meetings
  • Referrals to mental health providers

Some of the complications brought on by illness are practical challenges such as financial, insurance or legal issues.  Our team may:

  • Explain medical forms
  • Better educate families to understand treatment choices and make more informed decisions
  • Refer families to financial counseling
  • Help connect you to resources for transportation or housing
